A form made for a demo in the wood bending class I taught today. I’ll be using this as a base level in a vacuum clamping process with stacked laminations of oak veneer, fabric and resin. The vacuum clamp draws these layered materials down to hug the contours of the word that has been cut into masonite. “Surface” telescopes from the base, through each sheet of material to the top layer.
I finished cutting the masonite word and glued it in between classes. The streaks made from spreading and skimming the glue caught my eye. Much more glue than needed to hold the word firmly to the board, it became a background to the relief. The glue is dry now and , I don’t know, may never be seen with the final object. I’ll be thinking about it - if this event will have something more to do with the thing it produces.
